So you’ve just gotten DirecTV and you’re loving it. But wait – you can’t find a way to access Netflix! Well, we have some bad news for you: you can’t. Even though DirecTV offers a ton of high-quality entertainment, it simply doesn’t let you access Netflix.
This doesn’t mean that you’re out of luck, though. Our homes and devices are more connected than ever before, which means that there are loads of other ways to watch Netflix movies on your TV. You don’t necessarily even need the latest tech to do so. Check out our guide below to find out how.
Method 1 – Use a Smart TV App
The simplest way to watch Netflix on most modern TVs is to install the Netflix app. It might already be installed! If not, check out your TV’s app store and see if it’s in there. Remember: while you can side-load apps onto your phone, the risks are much higher with Smart TVs. For this reason, we strongly advise against it.
Once the app is installed, just sign in with your Netflix credentials and begin watching.
Method 2 – Use a Laptop and HDMI Cable
If you’re lucky enough to have a laptop with an HDMI port, you can start by bringing up the Netflix site. Next, plug one end of the HDMI cable into your laptop and the other into your TV’s HDMI INPUT port. Finally, turn your TV over to the correct input source. Voila – anything you see on your laptop screen should now be duplicated on the TV.

Method 3 – Use a USB Stick
Netflix recently introduced a feature allowing users to download certain movies and TV shows to watch offline. While most of us will never use this option, it comes in very handy if you don’t have a Smart TV. You can start by downloading the title you’d like to watch.
Once downloaded, insert a USB stick into your computer and transfer the file over. Next, plug the USB stick into the back of your TV. You’ll likely see a menu appear, so navigate through it until you find the file. If all goes well, your movie should begin to play.

Summary
It doesn’t have to be difficult to watch Netflix on your TV. Unfortunately, as DirecTV and Netflix are competitors, it’s unlikely there’ll ever be integrated support, but we can always hope. In the meantime, however, the above tips should be enough to keep you going. Happy streaming!
